Fluffy the Bunny

Why did Fluffy die?

Our family’s beloved pet bunny rabbit Fluffy died in the waiting room at the University of Florida, College of Veterinary Medicine when no one would treat her.  This site is dedicated to Fluff’s memory.  It is a work in progress to provide information.

Fluffy was in a state of pain and suffering requiring immediate veterinary care on August 13, 2007.  Fluffy was a long-established patient at the UF Small Animal Hospital.  Fluffy even had an appointment to see Dr. Myers.  But Dr. Myers did not keep the appointment, and no one else provided veterinary care. Instead, Fluffy was left to suffer and die while in the patient waiting room.

I may bring this matter to court because I believe the veterinary staff’s callous attitude toward life, and their indifference toward a suffering animal is unacceptable in civilized society.  For over 20 minutes the veterinary staff was either engaged in routine matters, or standing around idly chatting with each other, and refused to help a critically ill animal.  After Fluffy died Dr. Wellehan looked and pronounced the bunny dead.  Fluffy’s death was unnecessary. May she rest in peace.
